Important early work of excellent quality, complete history and perfect provenance.

The painting is one of 7 works that Blanche showed during her first participation in the Salon des Indépendants. In these early works, the particular proximity to the work of her teacher and stepfather Claude Monet is present: the artist used the same canvases and colors and remained faithful to her stepfather's learned painting style.

The present subject was created in the background of the recognizable city Canteleu on the road to Rouen, where the artist since her marriage with Jean Monet (1867-1914), the eldest son of Claude Monet, lived.
